since i don’t have you

Today’s Untz: Since I Don’t Have You / Jonas Rathman

Have no fear! At least one of will get a track up. As it was eloquently put earlier, it’s all about quality not quantity. TUATI’s new mission statement perhaps?

But I digress… on to the sweet Swede who brings us today’s track. He’s operatred under a different name in the past, but decided to expose himself to the industry by abandoning all pseudonyms and releasing his work under his own name.

You might think after looking at the track name that this would be about a significant other. Well technically it could be for a producer, but it’s actually a track encapsulating the love story between Jonas and his lost microKORG. He spent the summer with other synthesizers creating these healing melodies, but really he just misses his KORG. #untz/tom

The Wave

Today’s Untz: The Wave (Flight Facilities Mix) / Miike Snow

This song was already featured on my other blog TheTrashJuice last Friday, but it’s too good not to highlight again. If you’re ever looking for some darker elements of electronic music or perhaps the more eclectic side certainly check out that site.

With the mix of indie and untz on here I certainly narrow my focus a little bit which is great because I like sharing the type of music I do on here. This track certainly follows that path.

There’s no need to introduce either Miike Snow or The Flight Facilities. Both of them are well known and rightfully so. This track here is just a great example of two giants joining forces to create an uplifting track that is great on any occasion especially the weekend. Enjoy! #untz/tom

Today’s Indie: One for Sorrow / Jeffrey

‘we’ll start out with fancy sheets / and wear them down so thin / I’ll get myself a coal black suit I’ll never wear again’

We are knee deep in wedding season, and today marks the beginning of a journey into three weddings within eight days (I am at that age). I will spend this weekend along the sun soaked shores of San Diego before heading up North to my homeland in the Willamette Valley the next to celebrate with my sister. A lot of friends, family, love, and champagne. Accordingly, to carry the season off right, one of my favorite old wedding themed songs by Wisconsin singer songwriter Jeffrey Foucault. Just try to listen and not smile.

we’re gonna have a hundred babies
a little house outside of town
with a wood-stove and a claw-foot tub
when we’re all done traveling around

Today’s Indie: Fineshrine / Purity Ring

‘get a little closer, let it fold / cut open my sternum and pull / my little ribs around you’

Ah here is a good one. Purity Ring has crafted one of the more strangely romantic tracks I have heard in some time, painting a picture of building a fortress for someone inside of yourself, literarily. I love Meghan Jame’s light, almost childlike vocals, eliciting a Crystal Castles, Sleigh Bells, and Grimes type feel, met with tingling builds and a backdrop chorus of coos. The track is off the Canadian electro-pop duo’s full length debut, Shrines, out last week, and all is worth a listen.

And then it was August. #indie/tory

these dreams

Today’s Untz: These Dreams / Chris Malinchak

French Express has been pumping out amazing tracks all month. This time it’s Chris Malinchak featuring some sultry vocals from Damon C Scott. He has a knack for producing epically euphoric tunes that really attest to the future of house.

There are some addicting high hats, smooth melodic bass, and tropical inspired synths that would delight even the casual electronic fan. I’ve been wanting to hop on here to post this one since it was released. So good. #untz/tom
